Joining Shawnee Park
is very simple.

At the end of each service, see Rev. Ed Stevenson and he will set up a time for you to join during the following Sunday Worship Service. (Or click on the hyperlink of his name.) He will then ask you and your family to step forward and he will then ask the congregation to receive the new member by either:

          • confession of faith
             (if not previously baptized and confirmed) or

          • transfer of membership.

If the new member joins by confession of faith, the minister will ask,

"Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and do you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior?"

If the new member joins by transfer of membership, the minister welcomes him or her with the "right hand of Christian fellowship" and extends an opportunity to reaffirm their faith.

Those who come by confession of faith will be baptized at a later time. Shawnee Park notifies the former congregation when a new member joins by transfer of membership.
