Wish to Join Shawnee Park?
Those who wish to join may simply come forward during worship at the invitation time right after communion.

Service of Joining
At the service of joining, the pastor will ask you and any family or friends you may wish to accompany you, to step to the front of the sanctuary.  He will then ask

Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and will you commit yourself to trust him for strength and guidance in all parts of your life?

I do.

Will you pledge to turn your back on anything that would keep you from actively following Christ in your daily life?

I will.

Will you pledge to follow Christ with your prayers, your service and your material gifts for the support of the worship, education, fellowship, evangelism and service ministries of this congregation and through them, the ministries of Christ’s church throughout the world?

I will.

The minister will then ask the congregational elders who are present to greet and welcome you on behalf of the whole congregation.

Previous Church Membership or Baptism
Shawnee Park, along with other Disciples of Christ churches, recognizes the efficacy of the Christian baptism performed by any Christian congregation. Persons who have previously been baptized, whether as adults, youth or even infants, by sprinkling, pouring or immersion are NOT required to be re-baptized.

Those who wish to join but have not been baptized will be baptized at a later regular worship service to be arranged in consultation with the pastor.

Our office will notify former congregations of persons who join of their change in status.
