Spiritual Programs Lay Leadership Disciples of Christ churches affirm the "priesthood of all believers" in utilizing a lay-clergy partnership in all phases of church life, including worship leadership and congregational care. Each Sunday, lay persons, both men and women, are directly involved in worship leadership, including the offering of prayers and the consecration of communion. Each week lay persons, again both men and women participate in the care and support of congregational members who are experiencing physical, economic or spiritual crisis.
