Worship
Shawnee Park Christian Church during the school year (September through May) has two worship services each Sunday that are inter-generational experiences. The first starts at 8:45 a.m. and runs to 9:45 a.m. The second worship service starts at 11 a.m. and runs to Noon. Both services include a Children's Moment, followed by children ages 3 thru 1st grade then heading off to Children's Church after the Children's Moment message. For those who are just beginning to join the full worship service, there are activity books at the back of the church in black binders. We also provide a paid staff member, with background check, who staffs the nursery.

During summer, Memorial Day through Labor Day, Shawnee Park Christian Church moves to one Sunday Worship Service at 10 a.m. with Sunday School the hour before, starting at 9 a.m. We also add a Thursday night Worship Service from early June to early August of more of a contemporary theme. This helps those families and individuals with busy summer weekends and also for those who want an additional worship service during the week.

The Lord's Supper or Communion is celebrated in every worship service. It is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ. The practice of Holy Communion has become the central element of worship within the Disciples tradition.

Each worship service features announcements, congregational music, lighting of the candles and presentation of the Bible, joys and concerns, prayers of faith, invitation to offering and the offering, doxology, dedication of offering, scripture, the message, an invitation to commit your life to Christ, invitation hymn, communion hymn, communion, closing hymn and postlude.

EASTER

For I have received of the Lord what I have also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way he took the cup also after supper saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as you eat this bread, and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

I Corinthians 11:23-26 (NRSV)
